Easy trails

The channel of Pangalane boarded by typical lush vegetation will leads us to a remote area in the eastern coast of Madagascar where Betsimisaraka fisherman villages are passed, some parks and private reserves will be visited to spot the largest lemur and chameleon of the Great Island. The second part of this itinerary will let us discover the south part crossing highlands and their landscapes ornate by many rice fields on stages, Rocky Mountains and much other scenery that changes. We will end this trip on the beach of Ifaty, the Vezo fisherman area.

Day 1 : Antananarivo
You will meet our staff in the airport of Antananarivo and be transferred privately to your hotel.

Day 2: Antananarivo –  Andasibe
We start by driving to the east side of the Island with a stop in the private reserve of Pereyras in Marozevo. Arriving in Andasibe, accommodation in the hotel and we will get ready for a night walk to spot nocturnal lemurs and other nocturnal reptiles and amphibians.

Day 3: Andasibe
Today, half a day will be dedicated to discover the Analamazaotra’s national park. In the afternoon, we will visit the Vakona’s lemur island.

Day 4: Andasibe – Antsirabe
We will drive back to Antananarivo and head south till Ambatolampy to visit the aluminum workshop, then we continue to Antsirabe, « where there is much salt ». Possibility of a short city tour.

Day 5 : Antsirabe
This day will be dedicated to explore the center of the Vakinankaratra region with a visit of the historical lac of Tritriva and its legend. Visit of the typical village of Belazao. During our passage, we will have the opportunity to see how the Malagasy beer (Three Horses Beer or THB) is made.

Day 6 : Antsirabe – Ambositra
We continue till the undisputed capital of wood carving, known as “the town of roses”. We visit a workshop where the « Zafimaniry art » are worked and exposed. We are always in the Betsileo’s area, the third more popular tribe in Magadascar.

Day 7 : Ambositra – Fianarantsoa
Visit the village of Antoetra, the capital of Zafimaniry people.

In the afternoon we will drive till Fianarantsoa, well-known city as the kingdom of Betsileo ethnic group. This town is also an important catholic center of the island with its numerous churches.

Day 8 : Fianarantsoa – Isalo
After a short drive we will reach Ambalavao, the “new city” and the second largest zebu market on Magadascar, we will discover several family of ring-tailed lemur in the reserve of Anja. After the reserve, we continue onto Ranohira, our destination of this day.


Day 9: Isalo
We spend a full day in the Isalo National Park, a vast region of wind-polished and water sources rock towers boarded and surrounded by pandanus aquatic plants, deep canyons dated on the Jurassic, gorges and oases often described as Eden.  The combination of colored eroded rock formations and the standing stone do the wealth of the best landscape .

Day 10: Isalo – Tulear – Ifaty
We will continue to the south, passing by the sapphire village of Ilakaka.  This step will bring us to new scenery: among the dry forests of the west and spiny desert of the south, we will visit the national park of Zombitse – Vohibasia, a very special forest of particular interest for to birdwatchers.

Day 11 : Ifaty
Free day for optional activities.

Day 12 : Ifaty
Free day for optional activities.

Day 13 : Ifaty – Tulear – Antananarivo
We will be transferred back to the airport of Tulear for our flight to Antananarivo. Arrived in town we will be transferred again to our hotel.
